Akash Gupta graduated from Tamil Nadu National Law University in 2018. In the course of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) programme he has represented the University at national and international moots. He was awarded the Colin J. Wall Spirit of the Moot Award at a highly prestigious legal competition in international arbitration – 13th Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong. Apart from participating in Vis Moot twice, he was also awarded Runners-up and 2nd Best Speaker at 1st State Level Moot Court Competition 2018, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai; Finalists and Best Memorandum at 4th Justice P.B.Sawant National Moot Court Competition, Shankarrao Chavan Law College, Pune; Best Memorandum at 1st MMU National Moot Court Competition, Department of Law, Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Ambala. For his admirable performance in mooting, he has been awarded 1st Ram Jethmalani Excellence Awards 2018 for Students in the Moot Category after a scrutinization of approximately 1000 participant applications from all over India. In addition to academic curriculum and moots, he has undergone different courses like Construction Industry Adjudication Refresher Course, Asian International Arbitration Centre, Malaysia; WIPO – India Summer School on Intellectual Property, RGNIIPM, Nagpur; Diploma in Cyber Law, Government Law College, Mumbai. In addition to interning at India’s top law firms like Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., Kochhar & Co. and Juris Corp, he has also interned with the Asian International Arbitration Centre, Malaysia.


Thereafter, he went to Stockholm University and studying LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration Law. At Stockholm, he has been selected out of many applicants to be a member of a team to represent the Stockholm University in the 26th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Vienna. Moreover, he has acted as a volunteer at a number of high profile events in Stockholm, namely the “Future of Arbitration in Europe” jointly organized by the Stockholm University and the University of Oxford, the conference “Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization of Law” organized by VQ Forum as well the ICAL Alumni Conference 2018: Navigating the Muddy Waters of Modern Arbitration.
