Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Society (“ADR Society”) is a student-run body within Jindal Global Law School. It is an autonomous entity within the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution (“CADR”). The ADR Society works to harness the efforts of students towards the common goal of development of ADR processes through student initiatives, competitions and intellectual discourse.

The aims and objectives of the ADR Society are as follows-

  • Spread awareness about ADR within the student community;
  • To organize ADR training for students as well as organizing career centric ADR certification;
  • To enable students to participate in national and international competitions by selecting JGLS teams, coordinating with organizers, training and organizing logistics when necessary;
  • To organize conferences, public lectures and other events such as ADR competitions in collaboration with the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution; and
  • To promote ADR related research among students.
  • The ADR Society consists of students selected through an induction process from among 2nd to 5thyear students of the B.A.,LL.B/ B.B.A.,LL.B programme, and from the 2nd to 3rd  year students of the LL.B. programme.
  • The number of members is determined on a pro rata basis vis-à-vis the number of competitions and events available in a particular year.
  • Membership in the ADR Society is valid for 1 year.
  • The ADR Society elects a Board comprising 3 members who function as its executive arm. However, the ADR Society retains the right to consider and vote on major policy documents.
  • The ADR Society and the Board is supervised by a Faculty Board with a Chairperson(s)
  • June 2019: A team from the ADR Society representing JGLS has been selected for the International Mediation Competition in Singapore on basis of their performance at the RGNUL Mediation Competition, where they were finalists. The team will also get to witness the signing of the Singapore Convention (i.e., the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation) in August 2019.
  • June 2019: A team from the ADR Society representing JGLS has been selected for the Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition in Vienna.
