Dipika Jain

Dipika Jain is currently an Associate Professor, Associate Dean (Academic Affairs) and the Executive Director of the Centre for Health Law, Ethics and Technology (C.H.L.E.T.) at Jindal Global Law School, India. She received a Masters of Law (LL.M) from Harvard Law School, USA in 2009. Dipika teaches and writes in the area of Family Law, Gender and Sexuality, Postcolonial Feminism, Health Law, Transgender Law and Socio Economic Rights. Before joining the academia, she had worked on precedent setting public interest litigations in the Supreme Court of India including Sampurna Bahrua vs. Union of India (praying for implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 in fifteen States in the country. The Act was amended as a result of this petition), Voluntary Health Association of Punjab vs. Union of India (demanding the Government to provide free anti-retro viral drugs to HIV positive persons) and People’s Union for Civil Liberties vs. Union of India (Right to Food case) among others. She has also served as an International consultant with the UNDP on Sharia Law in Afghanistan, Centre for Reproductive Rights New York, IPAS, India and the Law Commission of India on Family Law.
