India experienced a major strutural change with the introduction of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. It is reshaping traditional corporate behaviour in banking and Finance sector. This has opened up completely new areas of lawyering, both in transactional as well as ligitation practice. However, since India did not have any comprehensive modern statute on corporate insolvency before Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, there is an acute lack of established legal expertise in restructuring and insolvency practice. In this backdrop, this talk aims to introduce law students interested in commercial law to the law and economics of insolvency and restructuring.
